Quality Over Quantity
Remember that one time you learned something new and now you cannot stop obsessing over it cause it is just so important? You just have to tell everyone because at one point in your life you were just as naive as everyone else! I did just this with the quality of clothing. Currently I'm studying Fashion and let me tell ya'll that I have learned a lot on what to look for in quality clothing. Keep in mind I just told you I'm still in school so yes I'm a poor and starving college student. I'm not about to tell you to shop couture, or any name brands, but there is a couple of things you can observer and take note of when shopping. So buying that one garment that feels itchy, too hot, or gets ruined in the wash happens a lot less often. Here are the few things I always look for, and can't help but notice either!
1. Using Your Senses
So you've seen it, the next addition to your wardrobe! Not so fast to the register ladies. Touch it, really get a feel for the fabric get up and personal don't be shy now! This is the important part check the tag, it will tell you everything you need to know about the fabric composition which is a key factor in determining whether it is worth the purchase.
2. Find a Good Balance
Usually 100% natural anything these days is expensive. That being said man-made fabrics (synthetics) can sometimes be less expensive, yet not as durable. So find a good natural to synthetic ratio to your garment. You'll always want a greater abundance of natural fabrics, try and find a 60% natural 40% synthetics blend.
3. Pay attention to the Stitching
Seriously, this stands out the most and you don't have to be a fashion major to know a good stitch versus a bad one. If it looks sloppy the garment probably won't hold up well. If the stitching is neat and straight it shows it was constructed well, and should fit well too! Garments shouldn't fight against your body but should lay just right.
Rember! Quality over Quantity!
