Spring time allergies? More like spring time adventures!
If you’re anything like me, you die a little whenever spring time rolls around. It’s called hay fever but that’s okay cause we have things like Zyrtec to make you feel better but allergy medications often make you feel sleepy or just don’t work. Here’s a small list of things you can do to have more adventures in the colorful spring than watery eyes at your next picnic.
Consume local honey- This concept is based on immunotherapy. Kind of like vaccinations but you expose yourself to pollen, which is in honey. Pollen is a huge allergen and exposing yourself to this, makes you stronger against it.
Don’t go outside! Who needs sunlight anyway? Just kidding! We need sunlight to be happy moving creatures but you can avoid going out on specific days for example, when it’s windy. Keep an eye out for the 5 day allergy forecast which you can find on google and it will guide you to make your outdoor activities on a less pollenated day.
Whenever you come home be sure to wash your hair –your hair often picks up all those bad things floating in the air and holds on to them. Start leaving your shoes at the door because this also drags allergens through the house. Brush your pets’ coats every day because like our hair, fur can hold on to these allergens. Wash your sheets and pillowcases and don’t wear the same jacket for too long without a wash.
Keep your house sealed off, this includes windows, vents, and even screen doors.
Dry your clothes inside and avoid out door clothes lines.
This tips may help reduce your allergies but if your symptoms worsen, see a doctor.
