Three Reason Why I Obsess Over Once Upon a Time
Hey guys! So as some of you may or may not know the television show Once Upon A Time is going to be returning soon with their 5th season, and it being one of my favorite things to watch, I am dedicating this post to the show! Without further ado here are all the things that I like about Once Upon A Time!
#1. More than just your classic fairy tales
One of the things that I ABSOLUTELY love about this show is its complex plot, it really draws you in. This show takes childhood favorites and stories that you grew up with and gives them a life all their own. This show says “Yes, these are the stories you know but there is more to it than that.” I won’t give too much of the story away because not knowing is part of the fun with this show and also spoilers suck.
#2. Capable characters with more depth
Next, all of the characters can take care of themselves. Not just the men. The women as well! There is no damsel in distress here. Snow White? She’s a sword and crossbow wielding thief! The show is very modern in ideology, the women are strong and independent which I think will really be showcased in the upcoming 5th season when the writers finally introduce their first official lesbian couple! Although there have been glimpses and shadows of gay romanticism it has yet to happen until now. In addition to that many of the recurring main characters in this show are female as well as BAMF’s. Some definiely worth mentioning are:
Emma Swan/The Savior
Played by Jennifer Morrison, Emma is essentially the main character of the show and is discovering just how powerful she really is.
Regina/The Evil Queen
Played by Lana Parrilla, Regina is also a major character. Although much different personality wise than you would expect (particularly if you are judging her title as Evil Queen) she still has incredible amounts of power and I, personally, wouldn’t want to be on her bad side.
Mary Margaret/Snow White
Played by Ginnifer Goodwin. This is not your typical princess; she takes care of her own business.
Zelena/The Wicked Witch of the West
Played by Rebecca Mader. Although she has only been in about 2 seasons she is quickly becoming one of the stronger characters in the series. She is a character that you will love to hate.
Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin
Played by Robert Carlyle. Although not a woman a very important and splendid character that deserves some recognition.
And of course a new addition to the female cast! Amy Manson will be joining us for this upcoming season and she will be portraying Merida of Brave!
#3. Great potential for revamping your Halloween costumes!
Finally, the show has pretty great cinematography. The effects in the show may not always be the best but the costumes, make-up, and actors make up for that. They do a great job of making you feel immersed in the enchanted forest or wherever else with the characters, in addition to that the characters are actually believable. They get actors that not only appear physically like the character they are trying to portray but that perform wonderfully and make you feel like that is who they actually are.
I hope you've heard my case about why everyone should be excited about Season 5 of Once Upon a Time. If not, hit me up, and I can give you even more reason! If you need to catch up, all four seasons are on Netflix. Season five will be premiering this Sunday, September 27th at 8 p.m.
