Recipe of the Week: Banoffee Pie

One of my favorite things to make is pie, and amongst pies one of my all time favorites is called Banoffee Pie. It is part banana, part toffee, easy to make, and absolutely delicious. This pie has its roots in England, East Sussex, and there are plenty of variations, but this simple version is my all time favorite. This version is gluten free, because I had a gluten free crust at hand, however it can be made with any kind of crust.

I have seen variations which include a traditional pastry crust or a crushed cookie crust. Either way you decide to make it, here is my version of Banoffee Pie.

Ingredient List:

1 premade 9 inch crust (graham or regular pie works)

1-13oz can of Dulce de Leche

2-3 ripe bananas

8 oz heavy whipping cream

1 -1.55oz bar of Hershey chocolate

The Steps are easy:

Step 1- Open the can of Dulce de Leche and the Graham cracker crust:

Step 2- Slice the Bananas:

Step 3- Place the bananas in the crust. Try to keep them to a single layer:

Step 4- With a large spatula, scoop about half the Dulce de leche onto the pie and spread evenly. This part will be messy, but it is okay. This is the first layer:

Step 5- Add another layer of bananas:

Step 6- Add the rest of the Dulce de Leche, try to make it look as nice as possible (don't stress too much about it, the pie will get covered with whipped cream and chocolate):

Step 7- Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. This is what the pie should look like:

Now, go enjoy this amazing pie!
