Why we Love Kacey Musgraves

Yesterday I found myself watching the Country Music Awards, which if you know me personally is a little outside my music taste. Honestly it is, and it’s not because I enjoy country music that much, it’s only because I enjoy Kacey Musgraves so much! I kept asking myself as to why I have such a massive girl crush on her. I literally came up with just about a million reasons why she’s so awesome and inspiring to me personally. I’ll keep it short and sweet within the article and give you the main reasons why she is a music artist to follow.

First of all Kacey was born in Golden, Texas which makes her a Texan. I’m a Texan and I don’t know about you guys but there is something special about being a Texan so that already makes me feel like I could potentially be friends with her. (I actually have a chance.) I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

As a female artist, Kacey is kicking ass and taking names. Her first album Same Trailer Different Park won the Academy of Country Music Award for album of the year in April of 2014. Fast forward into August of 2014 that same album certified gold, selling over 500,000 copies. Her second album was released this June, and I for one have been totally obsessed with Pageant Material. That’s some serious ass kicking if you ask me.

Her single "Merry Go 'Round" won the Best Country Song Grammy award, and Same Trailer Different Park won in Best Country Album in 2014.

Her lyrical themes and Style has actually risen more than a few eyebrows. In a generation where lyrics are a lost art Kacey has brought it back to life. Kacey is known for her controversial lyrics especially for country music which is typically a conservative music genre. Common topics in her music are homosexuality acceptance, safe sexual intercourse, recreational marijuana use, and questioning religious sentiment. Guys its 2015 it shouldn’t be controversial! I seriously admire her for writing and singing about nothing but the truth and what actually is going on today socially. I love what Kacey has to say and if you’re 21 year old woman like me I’m sure you can relate to her genuine song writing.

Not only is her music unique so is her style and personality. I’m like 98% sure she’s probably one of the coolest chicks I’d ever meet if I had the chance. With her user name on Instagram “SpaceyKacey” and her glam meets country style she remembers to stay humble despite her fame. Last night at the CMA’s she performed Dime Store Cowgirl. A single off of Pageant Material. She wore her custom body suit by Enrique Urbina bedazzled with Swarovski crystals. Of course with cowboy boots and cowboy hat to match. I literally had heart eyes as I watched her preform. Side note I got to see her here in El Paso back in April at Tricky Falls. It was amazing!

With her career soaring and her bright sparkly future ahead of her, I’m sure whether you lover her or not; it wouldn’t matter as long as you mind your own biscuits!
