Violence Against Women
Hey guys! So I have a pretty serious topic for you today: violence against women. According to the UN, ONE in every THREE women will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Considering there are 7.125 billion people in the world, that is a lot and way too many. Violence against women can be physical, sexual, and/or psychological. This includes intimate partner violence, sexual violence, human trafficking and forced sexual exploitation, female genital mutilations, child marriages, etc.
International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is November 25th and the theme for the groups UN Women and UNiTE to End Violence Against Women Campaign this year is Prevention. These groups are taking a stand by using their 16-day action plan, 16 days of activism against gender-based violence where they will “Orange the World” from November 25th to December 10th (Human Rights Day) to symbolize a brighter future without violence. Events will be taking place all over the world, and you can show your support by wearing the color orange or attending/organizing an event!
